Due Date Calculator

In this post, a due date calculator is implemented. It includes a form where the user can enter their last menstrual period date. Upon clicking the "Calculate" button, the calculate Due Date function is called. This function retrieves the input value, calculates the estimated due date by adding 280 days to the last menstrual period date (assuming the average pregnancy duration of 280 days), and displays the result in the "Due Date Results" section. Please note that this calculator is a basic one and doesn't account for additional factors that may affect the calculation of the due date. It's always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional for accurate and personalized due date calculations.

To calculate the due date of pregnancy, you can use the "Naegle's Rule" method, which is a commonly used method by healthcare professionals. The due date is estimated based on the first day of the woman's last menstrual period (LMP).

Here's how you can calculate the due date:

  • Start by determining the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP).
  • Add 7 days to the LMP date.
  • Count back 3 months from the LMP date.
  • Add 1 year to the LMP year.

For example, let's say the first day of your last menstrual period was January 1, 2023. Add 7 days: January 1 + 7 days = January 8, 2023. Count back 3 months: January - 3 months = October 1, 2022. Add 1 year: October 1, 2022, + 1 year = October 1, 2023. So, the estimated due date would be October 1, 2023.

It's important to note that this method provides an estimation and may not be accurate for all pregnancies. Your healthcare provider will also use other methods, such as ultrasound measurements, to determine the due date more accurately. Consulting with a healthcare professional is recommended for the most precise calculation of your due date.
