Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) procedure
This procedure was previously called artificial insemination. In the procedure, a gynecologist injects the sperm directly into the uterus or Fallopian tube near the egg already shifted from the ovary to a Fallopian tube.
Intrauterine Insemination procedure is used for those having problems of sperm weakness, fallopian tube blockage, or similar other reasons due to which sperm cannot approach the egg in the fallopian tube. It’s a simple and very economical procedure. It depends on the doctor how much charge for the cost of the procedure, roughly the procedure cost is about $ 30 to $ 50 in case of a normal procedure. If sperm sorting is involved, then the cost may be increased.
Sperm sorting is also used in IVF. The sperm sorting procedure is used for getting the desired gender of the baby (Boy or Girl). IUI procedure is completed during ovulation periods of 24 to 36 hours when an egg is shifted from ovary to fallopian tube. There is no critical procedure involved in this process; however, it is not recommended by the specialists for some women having any problem in their uteri like infection or other gynecology problems.
Sperm sorting is a technology in which the semen sample of the father is collected and treated in a fluorescent dye to separate “X” and “Y” chromosome-bearing sperm. There are two types of procedures used in IUI, One without separation of X and Y chromosomes. In this process, any type of chromosome can fertilize the egg and any gender of the baby may be developed i.e., Boy or Girl. The second type of IUI procedure is done with sperm sorting (separation of X and Y chromosome) and only desired gender sperm is injected.
